Last year, it looked like Google’s growth was slowing down, but this year, the opening of the imaginary scissors between Google and Seznam has accelerated again , specifically by 9%. Let’s take a closer look at the use of both search engines from all devices in the following graphs.

Organic traffic from desktops differed by approximately

Of all the devices monitored, Seznam’s usage is strongest on desktops. So if a 22% share at the end of 2020 can be considered strong , Seznam also lost 7% year-on -year .

Summary of results differed by approximately

In last year’s infographic, we estimated a slower growth of Google (1–2%), but instead Google grew by another 9% at the expense of Seznam. The question therefore arises as to what caused the greater growth of Google . A closer look at client websites shows large shifts in favor of Google on the websites of those clients where Seznam dominated or maintained a solid ratio of around 35–50% until 2020. These were mainly smaller e-shops and content websites often focused on a specific target group. However, Google has already strengthened practically all monitored websites, and the growth in 2020 can therefore be considered natural. The question remains as to what number it will stop at after this year.

Despite the unfavorable conclusions for Seznam, we recommend not ignoring it when optimizing your website. It can still bring relevant traffic to your website, from which the website you manage can benefit.
